"I believe vulnerability is vital to creating meaningful work. If there
is no risk involved within the process, lackluster predictability is
typically the return."
During my time at KCAI, I have experienced a transformation within my work and within myself. The design department emphasizes trimming graphic “fluff.” I now see type, image, and color as communication tools rife with narrative. Rhetorical tropes have been revealed as the secret weapons of design. We are not burying our faces in our computers, but rather we are learning to apply our talents to initiate change—I am discovering the lethal potential of design. That said, my personal motto remains: all designs should include either yarn, dirt, raw meat, and whenever possible, my dog.
